Mark Monaco
Artist Profile
Texas songwriter and artist Mark Monaco has been honing his craft for most of his life. Born and raised in San Antonio, Mark discovered music at age 7 when he convinced local guitar legend, Jack Skiles, to give him his first lessons, even though there were few guitars on the market small enough for a child his age. Forming his first band at 11, he avoided the contemporary bands du jour and tackled music by classic artists like The Everly Bros, CCR, Buddy Holly, Elvis, and the Beatles.
At 19, he attended Nashville’s renowned Mike Curb School of Music Business at Belmont University and interned at MCA/Decca Records on Music Row. He later earned a Business Marketing Degree from Texas Tech University and released his first album, the critically acclaimed American Highway (rock legend Tony Kaye of YES praised it as “a gem”), shortly thereafter. Monaco has continued to tour throughout Texas and the South, building a loyal following and invaluable radio support with his American Highway, Alternate Frequency, and Overdrive albums, charting several singles on the Texas Music Chart, and opening for artists like Willie Nelson, Jimmie Vaughn, Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Junior Brown, and Kevin Fowler. His live shows are memorable and as Keith Howerton of Americana Music Times put it: "His high-energy shows and brand of country-rock are truly unique and genuine. No one walks away from a Mark Monaco show with any doubt that what they just witnessed was a guy and a band who gave it their all."
Now on the eve of the release of his 4th studio album, Monaco will continue to deliver his unique brand of hard-hitting South Texas Rock to audiences near and far.
